Head of IT (CKB group)
Dr Xiaoming Yang is the Head of IT for CKB study. He completed his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Engineering at Tsinghua University (China) in 1983 and 1986 respectively, and his Ph.D. in Computer-aided Engineering at Leeds University (UK) in 1998. Before he joined CKB study in 2008, he worked as an IT consultant (on behalf of IBM) for Airbus (UK, Germany) specialising in IT & PDM domains.
In the CKB group, he is responsible for overall IT strategies and overseeing the developments, operations, security and governance, including hardware, software and IT processes. He is the leader of both UK and China study IT teams and the chief architect of CKB IT infrastructure. Under his leadership, the IT teams have successfully delivered various systems for supporting CKB study over last decade, including surveys, follow-up, sample management, data and research management, and other in-field activities. His interests focus on leveraging information technologies in business and IT teamwork.
