Second resurvey successfully completed

The China Kadoorie Biobank’s second resurvey involving over 25,000 participants from 10 study areas is now complete. The final Regional Centre (RC) Qingdao (RC12) finished data collection in early September.

Internet-based Case Adjudication System for clinical Events (i-CASE) ready to help enhance collected CKB event data

i-CASE is a bespoke web-based system developed by the CKB team, a unique tool for epidemiological studies of this kind, it will give qualified specialists secure access to high quality images of the patient records and event information and allow them to carry out event adjudication using a standardised adjudication form.
CKB samples move into new purpose-built storage facility in China

The China National Cardiovascular Biocentre has opened in Xi Shan, Beijing. Storage facilities for CKB biological samples include 11 liquid nitrogen tanks, and 35 -80 °C freezers.

Completion of pilot COPD adjudication project

The pilot phase of work by the China Kadoorie Biobank to assess the quality of diagnosis of COPD cases obtained from health insurance database has been completed for ~1,100 randomly selected cases from all the ten regional centres.

In collaboration with genotyping microarray manufacturer Affymetrix and our genomics partner in China, BGI-Shenzhen, the China Kadoorie Biobank team has completed the design of a low cost biobanking genotyping array optimised for Chinese populations.
