Internet-based Case Adjudication System for clinical Events (i-CASE) used to review over 11,000 events.

i-CASE is a web-based system developed by the CKB team. Since October 2014 it has been providing qualified specialists with secure access to high quality images of the patient records and event information allowing them to carry out event adjudication using a standardised form.
Paper published on gender-specific association between tobacco smoking and central obesity

A new CKB study published in PLOS ONE examines the relationship between smoking and central obesity in 0.5 million Chinese adults, a population with a low prevalence of general obesity, but a high prevalence of central obesity.
Research on COPD and its association with smoking published

Outdoor temperature, blood pressure, and cardiovascular disease mortality

Blood pressure is a major cause of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and both may increase as outdoor temperatures fall. A recent CKB analysis published in the European Heart Journal investigates seasonal variation in blood pressure and CVD mortality among patients with prior-CVD.
Major funding secured for genotyping

In February 2015 the CKB was awarded a total of £5m from the MRC Newton Fund for further large-scale genotyping of China Kadoorie Biobank.
CKB Annual Collaborator’s Meeting

The CKB annual collaborator’s meeting brings together over 150 team members and project collaborators. National and International Coordinating Staff were joined in Haikou by CKB staff and Health Insurance Agency representatives from each of the project’s 10 Regional Centres from the 20 – 21 December 2015. The meeting also included delegates from the Chinese Ministry of Health and collaborating research centres.
DNA extraction completed for 250,000 participants
