Little is known about the long-term use of various proven secondary preventive treatments among patients with cardiovascular diseases (CVD) in the general Chinese population. Findings from the China Kadoorie Biobank cross-sectional data, published online in the Journal of International Cardiology on December 28, 2014, showed that only 1 in 3 individuals with a history of physician-diagnosed CVD received any of the established secondary preventive treatments (eg, aspirin, statins, beta-blockers, diuretics, ACE-I, or calcium-channel blockers). These results should help inform disease prevention and effective delivery of health care service in China.
